For this semester holiday, I have so many things to do. I make a list:
1. Studying international relations, law and politics, based on UGM and UI's curriculums.
2. Studying Dutch, for the sake of your Dutch subject when pak Yuanda is teaching on the 4th semester.
3. INCREASING ENGLESH.
Yea, the 3rd one is so important. But why English instead of Dutch? Basically, I enjoyed watching movies and youtube in English without subtitles, I get used to it. I get used to listening, and auto-translate it on my head. And I'm craving for podcasts recently, I've been listening to The TryPods, from my fave youtubers, the Try Guys. But......my English is not decreasing, nor increasing, just, same, and that's the problem, stagnancy always bore me. Maybe because now I often use my ear to listen (of course you use your ear to listen) on podcast or any videos, I rarely read on English, especially like journals, of any scientific writings in English. Because it's different, right? The everyday languange and the scientific language, the scientific one is harder. This is the problem when you only learn English from music and movies, then you get used to it. You never really know the formal (or the right) structure of a sentence (yes, grammar), so you're fucked up when you're writing in English (tho I passed the ProTEFL test).
And it bothers me, again, the stagnancy. I want to get used reading History books in English without having my finger to follow the sentences, as if my finger is the scanner to process the words on my head. I want to get used to reading in English as well as I enjoyed listening English podcasts. So maybe, on this holiday, I'm gonna print some of History journals in English, then I'll identify the sentences, highlight new words and just....make my head used to it. Then I'll save my money to buy English books (this might ended up bullshit, but we'll see). And for further learning, I'll translate some of my journals and writings into English, scientific English. Wish me luck on that.
